I completely agree! I remember as a teenager being bombarded with this message that thin is good and thinner is better. The worrying thing is this message is being targeted at younger girls now. I read an article a couple of months ago which said that girls as young as eight are worried about their weight and think they need to diet.

RE: anchor tag -- I've actually never used an anchor tag, but my original reasoning for using multiple accounts (which is always what i've done) was that I don't want people subscribed to my main del feed to be seeing all my blog posts all the time -- if they want blog posts they sub to my blog, if they're subbed to my del they want bookmarks. At least that's my logic.

Yay! I like better scripts! For now I'm dual-posting to coComment and Commentosphere, but hopefully they'll add some of the nicer syndication features soon. They seem to be very open to user input (hey, that's the point of beta, right?).

It's interesting to note that the coComment people have said they definately plan to make it possible to manually add comments from unsupported services...

Yes, I got that too when I posted my last comment. I'm trying to convince coComment to add support for the popup window ;) For now what you can do is click the link for the popup window and then alter the contents of the location bar not to include &isPopup=true. You will then be taken to the non-popup version of the page where you can post a comment and coComment will work :)

Comment by singpolyma on page Retro-Fitting Tags to Your Blog - Freshblog (date 2006-02-08 11:48)
tagged: tagging, otherblog | view item |

Great post! I would tend to disagree about the anchor tag (although I know most people seem to use one). I think that one should use one account for one tagspace. That means one account for bookmarks, and one for each blog. It may be a tad less conveniant, but it keeps you more organised.

RE: JavaScript prefix. I would definately agree that something of that sort is needed. If you want something more standard/general JavaScript is not the way to go. If you’re fine with coComment-specific code then you should prefix the variables (or at least support prefixes for those who want them).

The problem with the markup was that in importing the test data there were some unclosed tags (only there because of the fact that del.icio.us truncates the extended field) that were causing display problems -- the entire content of a comment is not usually contained in a del.icio.us commentblogging post anyway, so I don't feel it to be a great loss.

Ah, ok, so basically the same idea, just more page-integrated (and thus only working on some pages).

Concer.ning works only via a greasemonkey script at the moment -- but the form, I believe, in it's present version only appears when there are already comments on the page. To add comments to a page that has none you have to do it from the concer.ning interface itself (http://concer.ning.co...

I don't see how concer.ning does anything at all, but maybe I just didn't find the docs for it. Hoodwink injects comment forms and comments to any page a hoodwink druid has provided a suitable XPath (for the injection point in page structure) and permalin

Nice bookmarklet! I don't use this stuff much, but that's primarily because it's not so easy to hack with as some things are -- this will make it easier :)

So this is like Concer.ning in that it allows you to add comments to any page, except that the page designer has to add something to make it work instead of it working on all pages?

Tagalag is currently considering adding the ability to directly associate URLs with your profile -- but for now you have to put 'a' tags directly in your 'about me' text :)

That's unfortunately a bit beyond the scope and reach of a userscript, but you might want to check out the LiveLines extension. Read more at http://heygom.com/extensions/archives/livelines-044/
